Digital age makes cheating a risky proposition

The recording of a man pleading with a woman to take her name off her phone message before his suspicious wife calls hasn't been confirmed as Tiger Woods, but to people who deal with extramarital affairs it speaks volumes about how trysts are an increasingly risky proposition in an age of cellphones, surveillance cameras and Twitter.

"It's easier to cheat because it's easier to stay in contact with the affair partner," says Ruth Houston, a New York-based author of Is He Cheating On You? "You don't have 'scarlet letters' . . . but you do leave an electronic trail — and it's easier to get caught."
